The topic is determined by the objectives of the occasion. Typically Black History Month is a time to discuss the contributions of people of African descent to the world, Emeagwali's topic will be Black History. Since he is a scientist, he will focus on the contributions of blacks to science and technology. Emeagwali is a scientist with an interest in Black History. He has given similar talks, including radio and television interviews. Some of his essays on related topics are posted at http//emeagwali.com. As a scientist discussing the contributions of other scientists, he can answer questions with greater depth and confidence. He will talk about the Father of Medicine. The Father of Mathematics. The first known engineer and architect. How the Greeks learned science from Africans. How the Islamic scholars transmitted scientific knowledge to Europe. And so on. The pioneers of science were born, raised, and educated in Africa. Yes, he will provide references --- all of whom will be white historians and scientists. Emeagwali's Black History Month talk is a tribute to unsung African scientists on whose shoulders we stood upon but whose contributions were deleted out of the history books. Thank you for your inquiry and we look forward to discussing the contributions of people of African descent to science and technology, as part of your Black History Month celebrations.
